Elsevier Unveils Latest Version of Openly Accessible Database Showcasing Most Cited Researchers

Elsevier has recently launched the 6th version of its openly accessible database, featuring a comprehensive compilation of the most cited researchers. This database offers standardized information encompassing citations, Hirsch index, co-authorship-corrected h-index, citations of articles with different author positions, and component indicators (c-score), with a primary focus on impact (citations) rather than productivity (number of publications). Additionally, it provides insights into co-authorship and author positions, distinguishing between sole, first, and last authorships.

Heartfelt congratulations are extended to all the distinguished researchers featured in this comprehensive database of the most cited scholars!

The database spans the entirety of researchers' careers, presenting cumulative data, and also offers a separate analysis of impact in the last year. Career data is updated until the conclusion of 2022, while specific data for the last year pertains to citations received during the calendar year 2022. The researchers are categorized into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields based on the standard Science-Metrix classification.

The selection process is meticulous, involving the identification of the top 100,000 researchers based on the c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or higher within their respective subfields. Scopus data, provided by Elsevier through the ICSR laboratory, served as the foundation for these calculations. All computations were performed using Scopus author profiles as of October 1, 2023.

It is important to note that if a particular author is not included, it signifies that the value of the corresponding indicator did not reach the requisite threshold for inclusion. This exclusion should not be misconstrued as an indication of subpar work by the author.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE DATABASE IS RELEASED IN AN ARCHIVAL FORMAT AND WILL REMAIN UNALTERED.
